Saving recipes and copyright

How imports work, why they stay private, and what to do if you are a creator with a concern.

PocketPlanr is a personal recipe organizer. Think of it as a digital notebook for the food you cook. Importing a recipe for yourself works like copying it into a notes app or printing it for a binder in your kitchen.

Your imports are private

Everything you import goes to your Imported tab, and only you can see it. Imported recipes are never added to Discover, never added to our shared recipe library, never used in other people's meal plans, and never sent in emails.

You choose, one recipe at a time

Every import is something you do yourself: you paste text, paste a link, or take a photo. PocketPlanr does not crawl websites or social media, does not search for recipes on your behalf, and does not recommend what to import. There is no bulk import, and free accounts can import 10 recipes a week.

What we keep

  • The recipe, turned into a list of ingredients and steps in your account.
  • For TikTok links, a link back to the original video and the creator's handle, so you can always find and support the source. We read the caption of the link you paste. We do not copy the video or its cover image.
  • If you add a photo of your finished dish, we keep that photo with the recipe.
  • Photos you take of a recipe card or a cookbook page are used to read the recipe. We do not save those photos to your account.

Sharing

There is no way to publish an imported recipe. Your recipe books are PDFs for your own use. If you share a link to a meal plan, anyone with that link can see the recipes in that plan, so only share plans you are comfortable sharing.

Your part

Only import recipes and photos you are allowed to keep for your own personal use, such as your own recipes, family recipes, and things you have found to cook at home. Please do not use PocketPlanr to copy or republish other people's work. Our Terms of Service do not allow using the Service to infringe anyone's rights.

If you are a creator or rights holder

If you believe something was imported in a way that infringes your rights, contact us and tell us:

  • the link to your original recipe or video,
  • what you would like removed, and
  • how we can reach you.

We review every report and remove content when it is appropriate to.

Supporting creators

A TikTok import keeps a View original on TikTok link on the recipe. Following and sharing the people whose recipes you cook is the best way to say thank you.
